GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Bellin Hospital in Green Bay is giving its employees a healthier way to stay hydrated while at work.

The new Evive Hydration Station was launched inside the Tree Top Cafe on Monday.

Evive Station CEO Dave Flanders says the kiosks are about giving people a healthy alternative and being green.

"The goal is to minimize plastic waste and offer healthier beverages."

So how exactly do the kiosks work?

"It allows you to clean a reusable bottle inside and out with 21 high pressure jets, it then dries the bottle, and then from there it fills it with chilled purified water or chilled flavored waters," says Flanders.

He also says the machines are user friendly.

"You'll come up and scan your bottle. On the bottom of the bottle there's a passive tag that recognizes you, brings up your profile, shows you how much you've saved, how many bottles you've saved from landfills, and your flavor break out."

Evive stations just became available to the public last year and are quickly becoming a popular place to get H2O. They've been implemented in some universities, fitness centers, corporate locations, and hospital spaces.

Evive is the world's first beverage kiosk capable of cleaning its reusable bottle and refilling it with filtered or fruit-flavored infused water.

They offer flavors like blueberry lavender, cucumber watermelon, strawberry lemon basil and more.

Police in Grand Chute say the incident happened outside of Pawn America, 500 Westhill Blvd., around 1:15 p.m. last Thursday.

Lt. Randy Reifsteck says that a 26-year-old woman and her six-month-old baby were unharmed when a man tried to steal the vehicle they were sitting in.

The woman's husband, who was inside the store at the time, may have been the intended target. The husband and Farley apparently know each other.

Sheboygan Man Charged with Retail Theft, Taking Vehicle w/o Consent

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - A Sheboygan man is facing multiple felonies after a crime spree spurred by inattentive driving.

27-year-old Adam L. Wilson is charged with two counts of felony bail jumping, retail theft and taking and driving a vehicle without owner's consent. All charges have repeater enhancers.

According to the criminal complaint, Wilson's partner-in-crime told police that it all began on the morning of April 12. Wilson was driving both of them in his car from a Walmart when around 7:20 a.m., when he rear-ended a school bus because Wilson was on the phone at the time.

Wilson apparently saw kids were getting on the bus as the crash happened, and with that, he backed up and sped down Mason Street to get away.

A few hours later, they took the car to get a damage estimate on it. That price tag was $5,800. Wilson tried to get a loaner car from a local dealership so they could go to the hospital. The dealership refused, because Wilson's insurance lapsed and his license was expired.

After getting a friend to drive them to the hospital, they tried going back to the dealership. There, per the complaint, Wilson took a key to a vehicle. They tried pressing the buttons on the key FOB to locate the vehicle, but couldn't find it. They got back in Wilson's car to drive home.

Around 9:03 p.m., both went to Kohl's on E. Mason Street. Once inside, Wilson grabbed two watches, taking one out of the package and the other hidden in a pocket. Minutes later, Wilson grabs a package of four cubic zirconia earrings off of a display case. He takes two of those earrings out of the package, and tosses the package onto a shelf.

Around 9:28 p.m., Wilson goes to the jewelry counter. He asks about a pair of earrings valued at $5,000. Wilson quickly swapped the earrings, taking the valuable ones and leaving the cubic zirconia behind without the employee noticing.

Then, around 9:45 p.m., Wilson goes to the fragrance section and grabs 3 tester colognes on display. From there, Wilson goes to the electronics section. He goes out of surveillance camera view and takes the security device off of a 32-inch flat screen TV, along with the security tape from one of the ends.

They bring the TV up to the customer service area in an attempt to return it. Wilson told employees he, "didn't have the receipt on him," and they initially offered store credit. Later, the manager came over and knew they didn't come in with the TV, and decided to call police. The two men ran off.

According to the complaint, the pair ran along the side of the building toward a nearby car dealership when they were earlier the day. The key Wilson had stolen belonged to a vehicle secured inside of the building.

The two spotted a brand new van parked outside of the dealership and when they tried the door it was open. Both jumped inside the van and a key was found. When Wilson started the van up, the vehicle warned it had just 5 miles left on the gas tank.

They drove the van to an area behind an old building nearby in order to climb a hill to look out for responding police officers. After not spotting any, Wilson drove the van back to the dealership when a security guard saw them. The security officer told them to get out of the van and Wilson accidentally left his wallet and two cell phones in the van, along with the 2 stolen watches.

The pair ran from the security guard back to their car parked at Kohl's. Wilson drove crazy getting away from the scene.

Police went to the dealership and spoke with the security guard who turned over the cell phones, wallet and watches left in the van. Officers also checked with Kohl's officials, viewed surveillance video of the series of events inside the store.

Adam L. Wilson had been charged on March 24, 2016, with felony retail theft in Sheboygan County and released on bond. Wilson violated the conditions of that bond.

Wilson is currently in the Brown County Jail under a $10,000 bond. He's due back in court for his arraignment May 23. If convicted of all counts, Wilson faces nearly 30 years in prison.

NEENAH, WI (WTAQ) - Authorities have released the name of the man who died in a Neenah duplex fire Monday.

40-year-old Jason Hendricks was found in the living room when fire fighters arrived at 1339 Primrose Lane around 9:30 p.m.

The blaze started in the garage and expanded throughout the attic of the home.

'It's a Joke': Democrat Slams Walker Over Debt Payment Delay

MADISON, WI (Wisconsin Radio Network) - A Democratic member of the Legislature’s budget committee is criticizing a decision by Governor Scott Walker’s administration to delay a $101 million debt payment.

Instead of making the payment this month on a short-term line of credit, the administration opted to restructure the debt and pay it off over the next several years.

The move is one that has been used by both Republican and Democratic administrations in the past, in order to divert more money into the state’s general fund.

An earlier memo from the Legislative Fiscal Bureau initially indicated a $50 million delayed payment would cost the state about $1.1 million in interest. A revised cost estimate for the interest on a higher delayed payment amount was not yet available.

State Representative Gordon Hintz (D-Oshkosh) called the move irresponsible budgeting, and a sign that Republicans passed out tax cuts in the last budget that the state couldn’t afford.

“Our last budget included $380 million worth of tax cuts, and we didn’t have the money,” he said.

Hintz said it shows majority Republicans should have been more responsible when they passed the budget.

“When I see actions like this, it’s not the end of the world, but it’s not a good sign either for a state that has a governor talking about our fiscal house being in order…it’s a joke.”

Department of Administration spokeswoman Laurel Patrick defended the decision to delay the payments, calling it a “prudent financial management tool” that allows the state to take advantage of historically low interest rates.

'For Real?': Green Bay Man Wanted for OWI, Bail Jumping

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - A bench warrant has been issued for a Green Bay man in connection with a drunk driving incident from August 2015.

27-year-old Demarcus S. Hicks is facing charges of 2nd offense OWI, 2nd offense operating with prohibited alcohol concentration, misdemeanor bail jumping, operating while revoked and obstructing an officer.

According to the criminal complaint, Hicks was driving southbound on S. Broadway in De Pere back on August 16, 2015, just after midnight. A Brown County Sheriff's deputy was behind Hicks, while approaching a red light in the right hand lane, Hicks drifted to the left into the other lane.

The deputy began recording Hicks' driving with his dash camera and clocked him going at varying speeds between 18 to 25 miles per hour. Hicks' drifting continued as he slowly made his way over the Main Avenue Bridge.

As the following ensued, the deputy indexed the vehicle and its registered owner was identified as Demarcus Hicks, who's driver's license status was revoked. A traffic stop was initiated by the sheriff's deputy.

The deputy asked Hicks and a passenger to put their hands outside the window and asked if there were any weapons in the vehicle. The passenger replied, "We just don't want to get @#$%#$ up."

The occupants were told of the reason for the stop, specifically the revoked license status, and Hicks replied with "disbelief." Spotted inside the car was an open can, "which appeared to be a 16 or 24 ounce can of Corona Light in the cup holder in the center." The passenger admitted it was his, and when the deputy told him it wasn't allowed in the vehicle, he replied, "For real?"

The driver then said he didn't own the car, but his brother Demarcus did. He denied any alcohol or drug use and verbally identified himself as "Sentrell F. Hicks" from South Carolina. The deputy said his speech was, "slurred, delayed at times and repetitive with some garbled responses. The operator's eyes were glossy and his pupils appeared to be slightly constricted."

When the officer indexed that name, nothing came back. However, he did notice that Demarcus' driver's license record indicated he moved from South Carolina. He also noted that Hicks, "continuously made his race and past national news police events in other locations of the United States an issue during this incident."

Hicks went on to flunk some field sobriety tests, with a later blood alcohol test coming back at 0.164.

Demarcus Hicks was jailed in Brown County on April 6, 2016. According to online records, Hicks posted $1,750 bond on April 8. However, on April 14 a bench warrant for Hicks was issued and it remains open.

Tundra Lodge Wants to Build Olympic Pool with City of Green Bay

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - A potential 50-meter Olympic pool could be in the works from a public-private partnership with the City of Green Bay and Tundra Lodge.

On Tuesday, city leaders met to discuss the presentation by the owner of Tundra Lodge and a representative given to Green Bay's Redevelopment Authority.

The pool would be open to the public, built on the hotel's property and would require a $3 million commitment from the city.

"For a lot of reasons this is a better option. Financially, as it's laid out, its millions of dollars of savings to the taxpayers of Green Bay but equally as important is it's a catalyst for economic development for that whole uptown district that's going to connect with Titletown," said Mayor Jim Schmitt, adding this option could make more sense than the Colburn Pool.

Schmitt says it would likely cost more than $6 million to build that size pool.

But Alderman Chris Wery says considering other possibilities now isn't fair to supporters who've already raised $1 million toward the Colburn Pool.

He also says tax dollars should not be going towards any private option.

"To suddenly try to slide in at the last moment and pull the rug out from under them I think is a raw deal. So they can look elsewhere for assistance but I won't be voting for any from the city of Green Bay," he said, according to FOX 11.

The plan put forth by officials from Tundra Lodge was purely informational and the RDA took no action on it. However, a formal proposal could come in a matter of weeks.

NEENAH, WI (WTAQ) - The Winnebago County Heroin Task Force is partnering with the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin to provide free Narcan training to the community.

The next training session will take place Thursday, May 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Neenah Public Library and will last about an hour.

Heidi Keating, Public Health Planner with the Winnebago County Health Department, says they hope to reduce the number of overdose deaths by doing these training sessions.

"One of the ways to do that, is to have more Narcan available not only the users themselves but to friends and family members."

That's why free Narcan will be given out at the meeting.

"Participants will leave the training knowing how to administer Narcan," says Keating.

Keating says family members and friends of opiate abusers usually come to the training sessions.

The Neenah Public Library is located at 240 E. Wisconsin Ave.

The meeting will take place in the Shattuck Room.
