GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Thousands of Wisconsin Public Service customers are in the dark Wednesday after high winds and icy conditions caused a number of downed lines.
As of about 8:30 AM, hardest hit areas are: Oshkosh – 3,300 out, numerous broken poles, crews from Wausau, Green Bay, and elsewhere en route to assist; Waupaca nearly 1,900 out, crews en route from Wausau and Merrill.
All told, there are 270 separate outages. Restoration times are unpredictable, but in Oshkosh, due to the broken poles, it will be difficult to get all customers restored Wednesday.
WPS spokesperson Lisa Prunty reminds people not to approach downed lines and treat them as if they are energized.
