GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Northeast Wisconsin Technical College is offering a one-of-a-kind training class to deal with a mass shooting.
NWTC Public Safety Training Coordinator Mike Molnar says it's designed for businesses.
Molnar says they train law enforcement on how to deal with a mass shooter, but saw a gap for the same opportunity for businesses. Molnar says the course will help prepare people for an active shooter scenario and explain how police would respond.
Molnar says the class is designed to fill a void for dealing with this scary situation.
“As the bad guys are learning, we want the community to learn to know what potential threats are out there and how to prevent or minimize them as well as certainly how to respond when law enforcement shows up on the scene,” Molnar said.
Molnar says this is no different than having a plan in place for an emergency situation like a fire.
The class is open to 32 people at the Sturgeon Bay campus on May 7th. It runs from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. The cost is $25. For more information, contact NWTC at (920) 498-7174.
