OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) - A man initially thought to be suspicious actually was an employee of an alarm company, Oshkosh police reported Friday.
Police put out a warning Thursday about what they thought was a suspicious person who tried to get into a citizen's home on Wednesday. The man identified himself as an employee of a home alarm company.
Cops now say the man called them Thursday night and said he was checking on previous customer accounts in the Oshkosh area. Police contacted the alarm company, who confirmed that the man works for them. Police then contacted the citizen who made the initial report and resolved the situation.
Oshkosh police remind residents that they do not have to let door-to-door callers inside their home. Ask for identification, and call the company the person says he or she is representing.
