APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - The Appleton City Council could vote Wednesday night on hiring a new Information Technology Director and also provide a relocation benefit of $25,000 to move 10 miles into the city limits.
In the last few months of 2012, the city wrangled with hiring the best person for the job against the city’s residency requirement. In the end, the city council decided to keep its residency rule in place requiring it's employees to live in the city.
The council’s Wednesday agenda recommends hiring interim IT Director Dean Fox.
The position pays $95,000 a year.
Fox would have two years to move into the city of Appleton.
Governor Scott Walker recently expressed his desire to end residency requirements across the state.
