NEW LONDON, WI (WTAQ) - Police in New London are looking for leads in a 1985 fatal hit-and-run crash.

The New London Police Department says on July 18, 1985, Frank Latza was struck by a van on Waupaca Street in New London at 9:35 p.m.

Responding officers found Latza lying in the roadway, alive and in pain. He later died at the New London Community Hosptial from his injuries.

Police say the vehicle that hit Latza never stopped to help.

The New London P.D. began its investigation right away. Witnesses provided several tips including a description of the van that struck Latza.

That van is described as being dark in color. It may have been painted a few times prior to the crash. Witnesses described the van as having a white stripe on the side, possibly two white stripes. It is also believed to have round headlights and may have had vertical windows that were custom made.

New London police are asking anyone who had previously given a statement and/or was interviewed during the original investigation to contact Detective Cheri Johnson at (920) 982-8505.
