MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Seat belt usage in Wisconsin is at an all-time high -- but it's still lower than the national average.
The Appleton Post-Crescent said about 85 percent of drivers and passengers followed the law and buckled up last year. That figure comes from DOT surveys -- and it's an increase of more than 2.5 percent from previous year.
However, Wisconsin's 85 percent rate is still two points below the nation as a whole. The DOT's David Pabst says Wisconsin ranks 35th among the 50 states in seat belt usage.
