WAUPACA, WI (WTAQ) - Formal charges have been filed against a Waupaca man in connection with the death of a toddler.
28-year-old Joseph A. Jackson is charged with first-degree reckless homicide in the death of his 2-year-old stepson.
Jackson admitted to holding the boy face down on a bed to try to get the boy to stop crying, according to the criminal complaint. Eventually the boy quit breathing.
When police arrived, CPR efforts were already underway. The child was taken to Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca and then transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, where the child later died.
If convicted, Jackson faces up to 60 years in prison.
