APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - A lawyer will spend at least 30 years in prison after an Outagamie County judge sentences him Wednesday for sexually assaulting and strangling his wife multiple times.

49-year-old David Dudas was convicted back in April of 30 charges filed against him. Dudas will also spend 10 years on supervised release and his law license has been suspended.

Police say Dudas' wife though she was going to die, accusing him of raping, beating and strangling her to the point where her face was covered with blood. However, Dudas claimed that the rough sex was consensual.

“This type of behavior is something that cannot be tolerated in our community,” Judge Tammy Jo Hock said, according to FOX 11, before handing down the 40 year sentence.

An emotionless Dudas did not wish to address the court during the sentencing hearing. Dudas’ attorney Stephen Hurley also declined to speak to the media.

Dudas’ wife and eldest sons, however, did make statements in court.
