MISHICOT, WI (WTAQ) - Three teens were arrested shortly after they were suspected of robbing a Mishicot gas station.

According to the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department, deputies were called to the KK Uni-Mart at 111 E. Church Street around 7:20 p.m. Tuesday.

Witnesses told investigators the suspects, who reportedly robbed the store at knifepoint, left in a vehicle headed east on Church Street.

Two Rivers police pulled over the suspects' vehicle on Mishicot Road just 12 minutes later. Authorities found evidence inside the vehicle linking the teens to the armed robbery and also determined the vehicle had been stolen.

Two Appleton boys, ages 16 and 17, along with a 17-year-old Mishicot boy were arrested.

That same gas station was robbed back on September 7. The suspect in that heist, Dustin Kuik, was killed in a shootout with Ashwaubenon Public Safety officers two days later. Kuik's girlfriend, Raeanna Nagy, worked at the store and has been charged in the incident.

Green Bay, WI (WTAQ) - Brown County Sheriff John Gossage is surprised at the numbers and vows to bring more attention to the issue.

Several Northeast Wisconsin law enforcement agencies participated in the FBI's 9th annual 'Operation Cross Country' last week, an effort targeting human trafficking operations.

The Brown County Sheriff's Department was one of the agencies taking part.

Sheriff John Gossage says the cycle often begins with young girl running away from home.

An adult stranger takes them in....offering food and shelter.

Then, to stay out of the cold victims, often underage girls, are forced into prostitution.

10 adults and 3 traffickers arrested, just in Brown County.

That's second only to the numbers reported in Milwaukee.

Appleton Police, Oshkosh Police, and Fond du Lac Police were also involved in Operation Cross Country.

Officers responded to ads on Backpage.com and Craigslist and made arrests outside several hotels.

Gossage says more attention will be paid to this problem, including help for the trafficking victims, in 2016.

As part of the national sweep, 149 underage victims were rescued and 153 pimps arrested in 135 cities.

WAUPUN, WI (WTAQ) - Officials with the Wisconsin National Guard have renamed the drill hall at their Waupun armory for two fallen soldiers.

The Wallace-Wendling Memorial Drill Hall is named for Sgt. Andrew Wallace and Spc. Michael Wendling. Both soldiers were killed on September 26, 2005 when an improvised explosive device blew up near their Humvee during a convoy operation in Iraq, according to the National Guard.

"We must never forget the way they lived their lives, the volunteer spirit of our country, to know that a 9-11 deployment into a combat zone was a sure thing and still stand there and serve and go and take that risk," Maj. Gen. Don Dunbar, Wisconsin adjutant general and commander of the Wisconsin National Guard, said.

Wallace worked as a physical education teacher in Oshkosh and was an assistant wrestling coach at Oshkosh North High School. He graduated from Ripon High School and UW-Oshkosh.

Wendling was a student at UW-Milwaukee before being called to active duty in 2005. He's a graduate of Mayville High School.

The Waupun Armory is home to Company A, 2nd Battalion, 127th Infantry.

The P-D says area law enforcement was told right away.

Reynolds was recaptured in Green Bay yesterday, Larock remains on the loose.

Below, is the Oshkosh PD statement :

Good Morning.

I would like to address the question of our delay in releasing information related to the escape from Winnebago Correctional Center on Friday, October 9, 2015.

The Oshkosh Police Department understands the importance of getting information to the community in a timely manner and the role the media plays in reaching our citizens.  With that said, we erred in not getting the information about the escape out to the community sooner than Tuesday, October 13, 2015.  We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused the public.  It is our intention to improve how quickly we disseminate information to the media and the public about incidents affecting the community while not impeding any related investigation.

The Oshkosh Police Department has been actively working with other law enforcement agencies in Northeast Wisconsin since the escape was reported to us on Friday. Agencies have been pursuing leads that are related to each of the escapees. A law enforcement alert was also sent on the night of the escape to all law enforcement agencies in the East Central area of Wisconsin to be on the lookout for these subjects.

We thank you for your ongoing assistance in sharing our message with the community.

Governor Walker settling back in to his "day job". Talks about his run for the White House and future plans

Green Bay, WI (WTAQ) - Scott Walker says that if he's re-elected governor in 2018, he won't try to juggle his state duties with another run for the White House.

The Republican Governor has not indicated whether he'll seek a third four-year term as governor.

But on the Jerry Bader Show today (THUR), Walker says there was never a time when he neglected Wisconsin while on the presidential campaign trail.

In fact, Walker says he may have spent more time dealing with state issues to the detriment of his presidential aspirations.

Walker spent much of this year traveling in preparation for his White House bid, which ended a few weeks ago after less than two months as an official candidate.

He believes the Republican field of possible nominees will narrow by the Iowa Caucus in February.

But unless one of them can do a better job of articulating their goals for the country, current frontrunner Donald Trump could win the GOP nomination.

As for Congressman Paul Ryan saying yes to the party and becoming a candidate for House Speaker, Walker believes Ryan can do the job.

But the change in demands on his time, coupled with a young family, could keep the Janesville Republican from taking the plunge.

Now, Walker says it's time to return to his "day job".

Over the next couple of months, Walker plans to tour the state while holding "listening sessions", to get a feel of what Wisconsinites are dealing with, and the issues most in need of attention.

He says over the next 3 years Wisconsin will see more reforms in areas like education, taxes & welfare.

BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) - Drivers in Brown County may get one ramp along Interstate 41 back open, but will lose others for a year.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says the on-ramp from Velp Avenue to northbound I-41 is expected to reopen Tuesday. The ramp had been closed since July for reconstruction.

DOT officials also say two ramps at the I-41/I-43 interchange and one at the I-41/Velp Avenue interchange will close on October 23.

I-41/I-43/Velp Ave. ramp closure and detour information:

Southbound I-41 to southbound I-43 ramp CLOSED between Friday, Oct. 23 and Sept. 2016.

  • Southbound I-41 traffic seeking southbound I-43 will be detoured south on I-41 to eastbound WIS 172, and take WIS 172 east to I-43.

Northbound I-43 to southbound I-41 ramp CLOSED between Friday, Oct. 23 and Sept. 2016.

  • Northbound I-43 traffic seeking southbound I-41 will be detoured north on I-41 to Lineville Road, and take Lineville west to the southbound I-41 on-ramp.

Southbound I-41 off-ramp to Velp Avenue (US 141) CLOSED between Friday, Oct. 23 and Oct. 2016.

  • Southbound I-41 traffic seeking southbound US 141/Velp Avenue will follow the US 141 detour south to Shawano Avenue, take Shawano east to Military Avenue, and Military north to Velp Avenue (US 141).

DOT officials warn the ramp closures will push extra traffic onto I-41 and Highways 172 and 141. Drivers should expect delays on southbound I-41.

Plans call for the I-41/I-43 ramps to be replaced with free-flow ramps, reopening next September. The rebuilt Velp Avenue off-ramp is expected to reopen next October.

MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ) - The Manitowoc Company is dealing with an eight percent drop in its stock price from Thursday.

Shares plunged by $1.28 to a little more than $15 a share. That was the after maker of construction cranes and ice machines warned that its quarterly profits would be lower than projected.

Manitowoc will report a 12 percent decline in its sales from July through September, to $863 million. That's 8 percent lower than what outside analysts expected. Net income is projected at $5 million, down from $73 million in the same quarter of last year.

The Manitowoc Company blames a lower demand for building cranes in Asia and the Middle East.

Analysts from Robert W. Baird and Company say there's at least some uncertainty of whether Manitowoc will complete its plan to separate the crane and ice operations in two public companies.
