APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - Charges have been tacked on against a Little Chute man already accused of driving over his wife.

Zohn Yang has pled not guilty to all of the counts against him. His lawyer has also filed a speedy trial demand.

The Outagamie County District Attorney's office says no trial date has been set.

Initially Yang faced 2 counts, including attempted first-degree intentional homicide, for the incident on April 27. That day, Yang is accused of driving the family minivan into his wife Pachia Lor. She had one of her legs amputated as a result of her injuries.

An amended criminal complaint shows that Yang now faces 4 charges related to an incident on April 21 when he allegedly threatened to kill Lor. Yang also faces 3 counts for threats made to her during an argument three days later.

The complaint goes on to state that Yang allegedly choked Lor during an argument.

SHAWANO, WI (WTAQ) - A trial has been ordered for the driver accused of causing a triple fatal crash last fall.

Online court records indicate that Ryan Swadner was bound over for trial following a preliminary hearing.

Swadner is facing 11 charges, including 3 counts of second-degree reckless homicide, for the crash which claimed the lives of Paige Brunette, Cody Borsche and Tyler Welch on October 21.

Arraignment is set for July 20.

According to the criminal complaint, marijuana was found by police inside Swadner’s car the day of the crash.

When detectives asked Swadner if he was smoking marijuana before the crash, the criminal complaint says Swadner admitted to smoking two to three weeks before the crash but he couldn’t remember smoking the day of the crash.

Swadner’s attorney has questioned the toxicology report results.

The complaint alleges Swadner was headed to a gas station so Welch could sell drugs to a person waiting for them.

While headed north Highway 22, officials say Swadner was trying to pass another vehicle stopped to turn left. Swadner immediately lost control of his car and that’s when he hit an SUV in the other lane.

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - A woman accused of having sex and trying to deliver drugs to inmates while working at the Green Bay Correctional Institution has pled not guilty.

According to the criminal complaint, 51-year-old Gayle Saldaris was a food service worker at the prison for three months last year. During that time, an inmate told investigators he had sexual contact with Saldaris 10 times a week, for about a month.

The complaint states that the convicted bank robber said he worked with Saldaris in the food line, and would get physical with her in the vegetable cooler and the freezer. He told investigators he'd been an inmate for 16 years and, "has never seen someone so reckless and blatant" as Saldaris.

Saldaris is also accused of trying to get drugs to a third inmate, 4 months after she was fired from the prison last July.

According to the criminal complaint, Saldaris tried having a different food worker at the prison bring Ethylone to the inmate. That worker called police, but was allegedly fired for previously delivering sexual messages to the inmate from Saldaris.

Saldaris will stand trial September 23.

MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Wisconsin's railroad commissioner is going around the state this week to promote a new safety campaign about being cautious at train crossings.

Jeff Plale says people are taking "silly risks" all the time walking on tracks and taking shortcuts. That's part of the reason for a new campaign called "Operation Lifesaver."

When people see railroad tracks, Plale says they should presume that a train is not far off. He cites an increase in train traffic from shipments of crude oil and frac-sand.

As a result, Plale says safety is even more important than in the past.

Railroad investigator Tom Clauder said motorists are also getting more tickets for violations at crossings. He says drivers can lose 6 points on their licenses and be fined $350 for driving around crossing gates which are down -- or going through flashing train signals.

The Federal Railroad Administration said trains collided with seven motor vehicles throughout Wisconsin during a 15-month period ending in March.

Wisconsin DOJ doesn't believe state trooper killer robbed FDL bank

MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - The man who killed State Patrol officer Trevor Casper in Fond du Lac was not responsible for a bank robbery about 500 yards away.

The state Justice Department said Tuesday it did not believe that 38-year-old Steven Snyder of suburban Detroit was the suspect in the holdup.

It occurred March 24th at the Hometown Bank on Fond du Lac's west side, about an hour before Snyder and Casper were both killed in a shootout.

Authorities said Snyder robbed another bank in Wausaukee the same day, stole a bank employee's vehicle, killed Thomas Chryst close to where he had a different getaway vehicle, and drove that car two hours south to Fond du Lac where the shootout occurred.

The Justice Department has yet to release a full report of its investigation.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel said the Fond du Lac County DA wanted it withheld, while that office investigates further.

Media reports said Snyder committed several bank robberies in lower Michigan the past few years, and the FBI joined Michigan authorities in investigating Snyder not long before his Wisconsin crime spree.

His estranged wife Stacey reported the prior bank robberies to authorities, but it's not clear when that happened. Snyder was also wanted for an alleged attack on his wife last Christmas Day in Michigan.

MARINETTE, WI (WTAQ) - Three people arrested following last week's meth bust at a Marinette motel have been formally charged.

Online court records indicate 37-year-old Robert Sellen, 37-year-old Bridget Zuraski and 19-year-old Senora Lopez each face two charges of manufacture and delivery of amphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia to make, produce or store methamphetamine.

The three suspects are due back in court for the balance of initial appearances on June 15.

On May 25, police discovered the alleged meth lab inside a room at the Marinette Inn. Authorities described the production method as likely being what's called the "one pot" method. That's a highly mobile, quick, but highly dangerous way to produce meth.

Lopez told investigators she had been helping Sellen make meth for 2 months, and that Zuraski helped get the ingredients, according to the criminal complaint.

Sellen apparently started making meth after losing his job. The complaint goes to state that among the items seized was a receipt for a DVD of the hit TV shot "Breaking Bad".

The Oshkosh-based aircraft manufacturer issued this statement, which reads in part:

“Sonex Aircraft founder John Monnett made a statement to staff this morning that Sonex Aircraft, LLC will continue to operate despite the holes left by Jeremy and Mike’s absence. It would unquestionably be Jeremy Monnett’s wish that the Sonex company and the worldwide community of Sonex and AeroConversions customers carry-on.

The engine and airframe’s performance has been flawless in all respects, including recent long cross country flights to Florida for the Sebring and Sun ‘n Fun conventions, making its return trip to Oshkosh after Sun ‘n Fun 2015. Sonex Aircraft is hopeful the investigation of Tuesday’s accident will reveal conclusive findings regarding the cause, however, there are no immediate conclusions that can be drawn.

PULASKI, WI (WTAQ) - The final day for students at Pulaski High School this year also became the last day for its superintendent.

Nearly two months after the Pulaski School Board placed Superintendent Milt Thompson on paid administrative leave, Thompson resigned on Wednesday night.

During the end of the Committee of the Whole Meeting, board members and Thompson went into closed session for about an hour. Afterward, the school board unanimously approved a mutual resignation agreement.

In lieu of talking with the media, School Board President Bob Skalitzky read a brief statement which was: "The board is pleased to have reached a mutual agreement with Milt Thompson, which will permit both the district and Milt, the opportunity to move forward and we wish Milt the best in the future."

Then Thompson, who received a standing ovation from the packed library, read his own statement: "“I would like to thank all of you who’ve come out and supported me tonight. I’ve enjoyed my time as superintendent of Pulaski Community School District, working with the wonderful staff and community here. I wish you nothing but the best for the district going forward."

While Thompson had a procession of hands to shake, school board members quickly hit the skids.

Thompson was hired by the district in July 2013 and was given a contract extension through next year, according to the Pulaski News. He was placed on paid administrative leave back on April 8 for reasons not made public.

Since that time, assistant superintendent Bec Kurzynske has been the interim superintendent.

Green Bay will soon be on the lookout for a new Top Cop

GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Green Bay Police will have an opening at the top in the coming weeks.

The Department and the Mayor's office are confirming that Chief Tom Molitor will step down July 31st.

Molitor has been chief since 2013 and served as interim Chief for several months prior to that when former chief Jim Arts left the post. Molitor has served the Green Bay P.D. prior to that as well.  He retired in June of 2011 as assistant chief.

He had been with Green Bay Police Department since was first hired as a cadet in 1980.

Molitor has guided the department through high profile police shootings and another charge of excessive use of force against one of his officers.

Mayor Jim Schmitt quickly placed the blame with several city council members.

"It's a tough environment right now, he's not well respected by a couple council people," said Schmitt Thursday. "Tom has a plan that supports community engagement, some people don't believe in that vision, he's asked to get an assistant chief, that's been denied."

One of those council members is believed to be Guy Zima. When reached by phone Thursday, Zima offered a different view.

"We got the willing to give him all the help he needs to solve all these problems, and he says well I don't need it," said Zima. "The problem is the Mayor wants him to do everything within his existing budget."

Zima, who wasn't too surprised by the announcement, believes that Molitor was, "stuck between a rock and a hard place" because of Schmitt.

"The most disrespectful person on the common council is the Mayor himself, he can't seem to handle anybody who has an opinion different from his," Zima added. "And if we quiz very hard anybody that brings a proposal he approves forward, if we try to ask the hard questions, he acts like its rude or something, and of course it isn't."

Schmitt hopes to have an interim chief named within a few weeks, and a permanent replacement by year's end.

KAUKAUNA, WI (WTAQ) - A Facebook post that's gone viral is causing some heartburn in Kaukauna.

A female resident claims an elderly man tried abducting her child and assaulted her during an incident last Sunday. That post was made Wednesday.

"We were called there for a landlord-tenant type dispute," says Kaukauna Police Lt. Jamie Graff. "And a male party there was arrested for disorderly conduct."

Graff identified that man as Henry Drescher. However, Graff says there is no ongoing investigation and other officials indicate there is no evidence of what the woman is claiming on Facebook.

Drescher was taken to the Outagamie County Jail. He's since posted bond and was released. A single charge of disorderly conduct has been referred to the district attorney's office, according to Graff.

Graff also cautioned people who use social media sites, like Facebook, about jumping to conclusions with regard to rumors.

"You have to be careful about what information you're reading and what's being shared and not getting caught up with truth versus rumors," said Graff. "If there ever is a major public safety, law enforcement in your community will be notifying you of those issues."
